WHY A PETITION? Following an article published in the Sherbrooke newspaper La Tribune on February 17, regarding significant budget cuts that would jeopardize the 2015-2016 program at Centennial Theatre, the presenter is calling upon the community to sign a petition (in English chn.ge/1BgJVtv) asking Bishop's University to continue supporting its programming. By signing this petition, you will support the administration at Centennial Theatre in its effort to save the 2015-2016 season of the performance space without which the citizens of the Sherbrooke region would lose access to the diversity of the cultural offer.
Despite the slow-down in updates, the Centennial Theatre team is working diligently and closely with the administration at Bishop’s University, the various levels of government and Sherbrooke community groups to push forth the developments that would enable us to begin programming the 2015-2016 season. We truly appreciate your support through the petition and comments. You can further support Centennial Theatre when you attend shows and share your enthusiasm about our current season. The last event of the 2014-2015 Centennial Theatre professional program will be the Quebec Premiere of the dance show Paradoxe Mélodie with le Carré des Lombes (Tuesday, April 21 at 8pm - Pres-show chat with the choreographer Danièle Desnoyers at 7:15 pm). For the little ones, a music/theatre performance in French, but easy for English-speakers «La Grande Tortue » (Tuesday, April 14 – 1pm).
