Love is in the air, and it should be a time of great celebration for the royal court of Duke Theseus as he prepares for his wedding day. But all is not well in fairy land as Oberon, King of the Fairies, and Queen Titania are in the midst of an epic feud. Their battle, along with a few simple misunderstandings on the part of the mischievous sprite Puck, cause all that love to get seriously mixed-up. Throw in four runaway lovers and a crew of amateur thespians shooting for their big break, and you’ve got the makings of one of the greatest comedies of all time! Celebrate this adventure with us between Thursday March 9th and Sunday March 12th at Centennial Theatre.
Directed by 2002 graduate Jesse MacLean, this will be Bishop’s University’s fifith production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the third in Centennial Theatre. The cast includes the 3rd and 4th year production class of Bishop’s University’s Drama Department. The technical team includes Emilie Deschenes as Stage Manager, Candace Warner Herring on costumes and Michael Medland on Lighting and Set. Director Jesse MacLean calls this “coming full circle”, having been involved in Greg Tuck’s 1999 production as his first production in Centennial.
SPECIAL EVENT: Join us on Saturday, March 11th, at 7:00PM for a celebration of Centennial Theatre’s 50th Anniversary and the unveiling of a portrait bust of the late Dr. Arthur John Motyer, ONB. (1925-2011), former professor at Bishop’s University and instigator of Centennial Theatre.
